4 months old, riding on my first flight

4 months old, riding on my first flight

Today I am four months old. This month I have had a lot of fun. I have done several new things. I got my first professional studio pictures, slept longer at night (between 7-10 hours), stayed in the nursery at church for the first time, got a passport, went swimming for the frist time, went to the Science Place, played with lots of friends, met my Aunt Jaime for the first time, rolled over, was dedicated at church, went to my first birthday party for a friend, and went out of town for the first time. That was in addition to all the normal running around town, running errands, visiting Nana and playing with my friends.

Mom loves that I am sleeping more. Most nights I go to sleep at around 9. I usually wake up hungry between 5 and 6 but then I go back to sleep until about 8. Dad often comes to play with me when I wake up so that mom can sleep a little longer. We have a lot of fun in the mornings. I am getting a lot stronger. I hold my head up very well, sit with support and am starting to push up with my legs. I no longer hate tummy time, but still prefer my back. I really communicate a lot. I coo and make all kinds of fun noises. I really like mirrors and the pretty baby that smiles back at me. I don’t take great naps, but I am happy when I am awake during the day so mom does not mind too much.

I can’t wait to see what mom has planned for me next month.

I put Katherine in her “Johnny Jump Up”. She did not fuss at all, but I don’t think she is ready for it yet. What do you think?

I rolled back over

Today Katherine rolled the other way. From back to belly. Amazingly, Kathy and I were there watching it. I am glad we were able to see her roll both ways for the first time instead of just finding her flipped over. She was not sure what to think when she rolled over.

Today we had Katherine dedicated at church. Some have asked us what that is. I guess it is similar to a baby baptism or christening at other churches. In our church we call it a dedication. It in no way saves Katherine but shows our commitment to raise her in a home and in a way in which pleases the Lord and provides her the opportunity to come to a saving faith on her own, hopefully at a young age. It was a very special day. We had many other friends dedicating their children today as well. We are very thankful for our community of friends as we raise our children together.

Today Sam celebrated his frist Father’s Day. He is a great dad. I love it when he plays with Katherine in the morning before work. As I still lay in bed, I can hear him in her room, “talking” with her. She is cooing and making all kinds of fun noises.

Will and Jaime were in town from California. We took the parents to dinner at the Gaylord Texan’s Ama Lur Restaurant to celebrate Father’s Day. It was a really good restaurant. We highly suggest it. It was a great ending to Sam’s first Father’s Day

Katherine, just after rolling over

Katherine, just after rolling over

Today while at Nana and Pops house Katherine rolled over for the first time. We were there visiting with Uncle Will and Aunt Jaime in from California. She has been fairly close to rolling over for awhile, but she had not figured out that she had to tuck one arm under. I still don’t think she has it down very well, but she got it. Will, Sam and I were all there with her on the floor and when she rolled over all of a sudden we just looked at each other and couldn’t believe we were actually there to see it.
