Happy Birthday Sam!
A new sport coat
Sam has the unfortunate luck of a December birthday - right between Christmas and New Years when no one is really around. In the past I have managed to have a surprise party and combine his birthday with New Years Eve. This year we decided to do something with just the two of us, taking Katherine to my moms. Sam really wanted to go see a movie and he selected 4 that he was interested in and I was then going to make the final decision. This is due to the fact that we have vastly different movie preferences. We decided to go see Casino Royal at the new North Park theater.
BUT…Katherine got sick. She woke up with a fever and was pretty miserable all day. She was super clingy and did not want to be away from mom. She would not eat solids so she nursed all day. We decided that going out was not the best idea.
So, my parents came over for pizza from Picasso’s (very yummy steak and gargonzola pizza) and birthday pie. That is a tradition for Sam. He likes pie more than cake. Then Sam opened his gifts. After mom and dad left we watched Ice Age 2 - quite a bit different from a James Bond movie, but funny.
I am so sorry that the evening did not turn out as planned but I think Sam had a good Birthday anyway.
