Our new washer

Our new washer

Exciting news for me, the stay at home mom - we have a new washer! It was my main Christmas present from Sam. Our previous washer had only 2 cycles - regular and permanent press. I had not idea what the difference between them was and I knew for sure I could not wash a lot of my clothes on those cycles. So, every once in a while I would take a load of delicates to be washed at my moms. Sam said when he bought the machine as a bachelor he had no need for fancy cycles. What he did not realize is that a lot of his sweaters also have to be washed on a gentle or delicate cycle.

So, tonight I washed my first load of sweaters and currently I have a load of diapers in the wash. Washing diapers in a front loader with different cycle options will take a little more trial and error but I am sure I will figure it out.

I foresee a new microwave in our future as well. Tonight there were some sparks and it was not because we had put metal in there. Hmmm - maybe it is time to redo the entire kitchen as well. We did discuss that we would start that project when appliances started breaking and the dishwasher is pretty pitiful as well. What do you think Sam?

Nice washer. You could try letting Katherine sit on the dishwasher door. Most kids love to do that and I’ve heard it works well at breaking the dishwasher:)

Katherine is actually quite interested in the diswasher and has just started to try to climb on the door. She is so small though that I fear it would do nothing to help speed along the death of our dishwasher (which is one year older than me by the way:).

My rule has always been, when appliances start to break, buy a new house. So far we’ve sold one house!

Sometimes I see sparks when I microwave frozen veggies or canned veggies. It usually happens with green beans. Not sure why. Pretty scary stuff.

Love the new washer!

Interesting article Anne. The porblem is that we were microwaving butter to soften it before making bread in our bread machine. I doubt there are very many minerals in butter. Hmmm.
