Yes, Katherine was able to celebrate Christmas a third time, this time in California with Christy’s family. It was really a loaded holiday weekend with a baby shower and Christmas. Katherine did really well on the flight even though she did not have her own seat. She did not fuss but was very squirmy. Neither one of us were able to listen to our ipod, read magazines or even drink our airline soft drink with much success. By the way, they don’t even give you peanuts or pretzels anymore! Katherine just bounced back and forth between us, crawling on the tray, playing with toys, ripping pages out of the American Way magazine and trying to wrap ipod headphones around her neck. It was a tiring 3.5 hours of my life.
We went to Will and Jaime’s new house which is very nice. I am jealous of their large open kitchen and den. I also am jealous of how uncluttered it is. I really need to clean out and get rid of stuff.
We ate out a lot this weekend. That is getting harder and harder with Katherine. She just does not want to sit still for the duration of a restaurant meal. It was especially hard in California because of the time difference. She hits her fussy time at about 8 when it is time for bed. Out there that was at 6 pm when we were heading out for dinner. Jaime and Will had a great baby shower. It was at their house and they had a ton of people. The invited both men and women and kids, there was a huge spread of food and wine and beer. They received a ton of great gifts. Mom and I brought so many gifts for the shower and Christmas that we had two extra suitcases!
After the hubub of the shower, we celebrated Christmas. Katherine is becoming a pro at opening gifts and has a great time. She got an adorable outfit from Old Navy that she wore the next day but we somehow did not get a picture.
Will and Sam spent part of one evening putting together the swing and stroller. There were parts all over the place but they successfully put it all together. Katherine tested them both out.
Katherine was a lot of fun and did all kinds of funny things. Sometimes she would wander off and we would find her in the bathroom with a pile of tiolet paper on the floor. We have moved our toilet paper rolls, but Uncle Will has not. She loved thier dog Trent. Trent is a huge part lab, part german shepherd mix. Trent is so sweet and did great with Katherine. Katherine would follow him around and try to pet him but he would always try to get away. Katherine also was drawn to Trents water and food bowl, she even tested out the dog food but did not like it and threw it up!
The trip home was much smoother because the flight was not full and Katherine had her own seat. I am starting to think that in the future we may go ahead and purchase a ticket for her. |
