For one day, I put aside all projects, deadlines, email, magazines, and even tv. We had a long breakfast. Then played in the front yard with Hooligan and some of the kids in the neighborhood. Katherine took a nap; we had lunch. Then we played in the front yard some more. This time she discovered the seed pods that fall from our trees. She laughed when I showed her that the same balls she found on the ground were also hanging on the limbs of the tree! We had a big snack then drove to white rock lake -- where Mom's story picks up. It was the most peaceful and relaxing day I've had in a long time. There were a few frustrations along the way, but somehow this Saturday seemed to put a lot of life in perspective. Life is good.

The stage you are in now is such a bittersweet time. Before being there myself, I NEVER would have expected to have such strong emotions on the matter. (Gosh, you're making my eyes water just thinking of it now!) Your sacrifices have given Katherine's body such a great start. Keep enjoying that time with her however long it lasts.
